Στα Χανιά θα πραγματοποιηθεί από 17 έως 21 Οκτωβρίου το 3ο Διεθνές Συνέδριο Λαχανοκομίας (III International Symposium on Horticulture), το οποίο διοργανώνουν το Μεσογειακό Αγρονομικό Ινστιτούτο Χανίων (ΜΑΙΧ) και το Τμήμα Γεωπονικών Επιστημών, Βιοτεχνολογίας & Επιστήμης Τροφίμων του Τεχνολογικού Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου, ενώ τελεί υπό την αιγίδα της Διεθνούς Εταιρείας Οπωροκηπευτικών Επιστημών (ISHS).
Το Συνέδριο έχει καθιερωθεί ως ένα διεπιστημονικό φόρουμ στην επιστήμη της φυτοκομίας, στη διάρκεια των εργασιών του οποίου παρέχονται ευκαιρίες για ανταλλαγή γνώσεων, τεχνογνωσίας, ιδεών και μεγάλης δικτύωσης. Το Συνέδριο θα περιλαμβάνει ολομέλεια και τακτικές συνεδρίες, εργαστήρια και ανάρτηση αφισών.
Οι εργασίες του Διεθνούς Συμποσίου Λαχανοκομίας θα λάβουν χώρο στο ξενοδοχείο Minoa Palace Resort & Spa, στον Πλατανιά.
Σημειώνεται ότι η Οργανωτική Επιτροπή έχει εξασφαλίσει τη συμμετοχή 16 αναγνωρισμένων ομιλητών:
